Day 10

We have snazzy new radiators, (which cost a small fortune), but sadly no heating. We have hit our first snag, once the system was drained it caused a problem somewhere along the line and now we cannot get the heating to work. We have had 2 different plumbers out to check it but they could not get it to work either and both said we need a new pump. It's cold in here. Thank heavens for electric blankets that's all I can say!

Vortek finished today. The last job he did was to lay some slate on top of the ghastly stone hearth. Here he is starting it. It looks wonderful all finished. Behind him is Jez who has started the painting.

More photos tomorrow. I'm off to bed for an early night!

  3. When I had my cooker fitted the man did something that stopped the central heating working....it's always something simple but will take £70 to sort out.
It's all looking wonderful even in its unfinished state.

  4. Its really coming on - hope you have your heating back soon

When we moved into our house in the middle of a cold November we lived without heating until Jan 2nd - it had got so cold I was sleeping with three layers, scarf, hat and mittens.

I decided at 3.00am that morning that if the plumber didnt turn up that day we were moving into the local travel lodge !!!

I'm sure it will soon be sorted

  5. Hi Donna,

It's exciting watching your decorating (and SO glad it's not us!). I DO hope you are in by the 24th.

Can't wait to see the finished thing. I like the colour of plaster (calamine - how did they think of that name!) Farrow and Ball - they have names like 'sewer' and 'coffin'!

What did yuou buy at Ikea?
