Staycation

This year I found it impossible to find anyone to share a cottage or go on holiday with as money is so tight.  It is just me and the kids every summer as the OH is very busy during the tourist season and cannot take any time off so having friends or family to go away with really helps.  Instead my friend Amanda came to stay with me and as we hadn't seen each other for a year we had much to catch up on.  We decided that we must go out every day and do something holiday-like and I stopped working for a week.

So, what did we do?  Here are a few postcards for you from my 'holiday'.

I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country. Who needs to go away?

Great pics :) I thought I recognised Clovelly - once you've walked up/down that street you never forget.

It all looks so lovely - I am glad you had a great time without going away. We have a similar problem - the summer is our busiest time in the B&B so going away is out of the question - and the animals make it almost impossible at other times of the year. But I would love a few days in your part of the world!

I was thinking exactly the same thing as I looked at your photos, Donna, that you are lucky to have all that lovely countryside on your doorstep. Glad you have given yourself time off to make the most of it. Loving the new-look blog header, by the way. I'm sitting hand sewing little lavender bags with divine vintage fabrics - now from where might I have got those?!

Looks like you had a lovely time and you went to Broomhill too, it's ages since we've been in fact it must have been pre children but I'd recognise that red stiletto anywhere.

Gorgeous pictures Donna, they so remind me of holidays back in the early 70's I had as a child. You are right, we are very lucky to live in a beautiful country with stunning scenery and beaches.
