In Vogue

There are small signs of Spring at last which makes me happier than happy. I adore Spring, my babies were all born in Spring. However the cold wind reminds me of the saying 'Ne'er cast a clout til May be out', so with this in mind I have been busy listing beautiful eiderdowns on my site. I have so many eiderdowns and usually just sell them at fairs as they are expensive to post but I am asked for them all the time. I have some very pretty ones.

I also took delivery of the most scrumptious badges from Jane at Snapdragon this week.  Handmade using scraps of vintage fabrics they fit in with my other products beautifully.

Here are just a few of them.  Aren't they lovely?

I also have these beautiful egg cosies, a perfect Easter gift!

Another wonderful package from the postman was for me, not stock this time!  I had spotted this wonderful piece of driftwood artwork on Kirsty's site and realised that it had to come and live with me.  It fits in beautifully with my nautical themed vintage bathroom.  I love it!

She's so talented, if you haven't seen her work I suggest you pop over to her Folksy shop and take a peek!

This month I have had a little write up in Vogue. Near the back is a page titled Vintage Vogue and in amongst it all is a mention of me.

Yes my darlings, strike a pose, I'm in Vogue!

Flea Market Finds

Yesterday was a great Father's Day for me, I got to leave the kids with their Father and as I have no contact with my own Father I was not expected to visit him. So, I popped to Shepton Mallet with Mum to visit the flea market!

It was a lovely sunny day when I left home and for the first part of the morning it remained that way so Mum and I strolled (rather fast) round the outside stalls. I have my fabric blinkers on when I first go around and sometimes come back for another look at other bits and bobs.
In the afternoon it started to rain so we went indoors.

It was a huge market this time and we were still wandering around at 2.30pm as the stallholders were packing away so fast strolling is the order of the day! There were lots of familiar faces both behind and in front of the stalls and I got to meet a few bloggers, some for the first time, which was lovely. I saw Niki there who had already been back to her car once to load up and hadn't finished shopping so I am sure she will have some goodies to share with us on her blog. I forgot to take many photos as I get overexcited at these markets and forget that I have a camera! I did remember when I got to Lizzie's stall though so here some pictures of her and I together and her stall with those famous green shelves.

I bought some wonderful textiles and loads of them, some beautiful bits from Sue's stall. I spent a small fortune overall but I love everything that I bought and they will all go on the website eventually. Here are some pictures of them.

And last but not least, see that lovely old French cot/daybed? It came home with me!

It currently resides in Lizzy's bedroom and will be her little sofa but will probably be borrowed from time to time as a prop for my stalls. I would have preferred a vintage quilt on it but knowing how rough my two little ones are on the furniture I have opted for a new polka dot one which is more durable.

All in all well worth the 2 hour drive I would say. I wish it were a little nearer to me as I always have a big headache by the time I get home due to the long drive. There is always a great atmosphere and lots of colourful characters. If you haven't been yet do try and visit, it's great fun!

Spring Sale Preview

As you can imagine it's a madhouse here at the moment. My 3 day sale starts tomorrow. Here's a preview of just a few things that will be on sale.

There is loads more to come and I will upload photos if I get a chance.

The two cupboards were bought from Dairy House and the lovely Sue delivered them to my house. They look great with my quilts and fabrics in them. Pin It

Flea Market and Vintage Fashion Fair

When you have organised your stock room like I did the other week, what else is there to do but go shopping for more fabrics? After saying, only the other day, that I really need to have a break from buying, this Sunday I found myself driving firstly to Shepton Mallet Giant Flea Market and then on to Bath for the Vintage Fashion Fair.

It was a cold start but turned into a sunny and bright day and having no children for the day (after being blessed with their presence all week) was so nice. I really needed a little 'me' time doing what I love best. The flea market was great and I all but filled the boot of the car with textiles, haberdashery, quilts and a few vintage dresses.

On to Bath which is such a beautiful city and one that I haven't visited for years and years. Mum and I really enjoyed wandering round the city and it made me feel wistful for city life. We had lunch like adults, reading Sunday papers and relaxing before going to the Assembly Rooms for the Fashion Fair.

This venue is spectacular and the fair was not a let down!!! I have to say that it was the best vintage fashion fair I have been to in a long time. There was a huge amount of very good quality clothes there and I got therer just one hour before it closed so goodness knows what I missed! I can't wait for the next one. If vintage fashion is your thing I would really urge you to make the journey to Bath for this great event.

Lizzie was there with her wonderful selection and is always a face I am happy to see whether I am buying from her or not.

This lady's stall was one of my favourites there. She had such a wonderful mixture of things and the colours were such a draw. I wish Sue hadn't been so shy as she was as gorgeous and colourful as her stall. I only got to take the one photo before my battery ran out on my camera!

I was trying not to buy clothes as I don't deal in vintage clothing and would only have been buying for myself. I was pretty spent up by the time I arrived too but did manage to find some delicious textiles for the business.

Here are a few of my finds.

They are mostly unwashed and unironed so apologies for the scrumpled look of them but I wanted to show you before they disappeared into my room. The dresses are in the machine as I type this so I shall show you those later.

and one of my favourite finds was this wedding ring quilt made from feedsack fabrics. This is currently hanging on the line so apologies for the photo!
