Fairs

Well here we are in November.  How did that happen?!!

I am very busy this month with 3 fairs to attend as well as the website to maintain. The first fair is on Wednesday at the Meeting House in Ilminster. This is a wonderful fair both to sell at and to buy from with some great sellers and top quality textiles.  The venue is lovely too with a great cafe selling delicious food.

I have been busy painting the insides of vintage apple boxes to use as shelving, using Cath Kidston furniture paints.  I love the colours.  Here they are drying out.

Today I did a mock up of my stall. I always like to change it as much as possible to keep things looking fresh and new.  Here is a preview for you.

I have so much stock to take and I am hoping that the tables are just a tad bigger than my desk!

The next fair will be the Vintage and Handmade Fair in Chipping Sodbury on November 14th, which I am beyond excited about, and then I am at the Cowslip Workshops 3 day Christmas fair in Launceston on 20th to 22nd November.  Hope to see some of you at one of these events.  Don't forget to come and say hi.

Remember me telling you about the Sip and Stitch club I go to now?  Well we were all featured in the local paper. My ripple blanket is now famous in North Devon!

The boxes look amazing and the stall looks fantastic. I am very impressed with how organised you are. Also haven't told you how much they liked the bats. Such a big hit. I had to prise Hector's fingers off the strap when he went to bed. The children were so sweet together and I loved how they all ran around screeeeeeming. Hope you have all recovered. Laura x

What a brilliant idea for display ... I'm always in a quandary when it comes to setting up and displaying at fairs so may have to pinch this one ;-)

I also use apple crates for display, I have one in my bathroom with towels stacked in it and in the bothy for displaying, great minds think alike, although I love your twist of using the bright colours! I wish I could come tomorrow, but since partners blew his van up he uses my car for work! I have booked it for the fair at Chipping Sodbury though!

Hello, I am having a blissful evening scooting around following people's recommended blogs, and have just been looking through your blog and shop and had to say hello.

I think what you do is just so lovely. I have been looking through some of the fabrics in your shop, and your descriptions of them just make me want to throw myself into fabric and textiles - even though I really can't sew and don't really have much of a clue.

It's just great that you have turned a hobby and something you obviously know so much about into such a natty business!

I particularly liked the bunny fabric in the kids / novelty section. I love rabbits so that one is perfect for me :-)

Anyway, good to meet you,

Charlotte

Donna, the apple crates look brilliant and the stall just looks so inviting. Wish you could come help me organise myself for my first show which is next weekend. Haven't got a bleeding clue what I am doing. Hoping it will somehow come together ok in the end but certainly needs to take some tips from you x

Hi Donna,
Lovely to see you and your (far from grumpy!!) Mum yesterday. Your stall looked fabulous and was very tempting - I was so pleased with the lovely Sanderson fabric that I bought from you and my latest rag dolls are very excited about the miniature suitcase, but I've told them only one of them can own it! ;-))

Can't wait for the V&H...fingers crossed for a fine dry day - see you there,

Those painted boxes for the display are such a good idea. I'm taking part in a craft trail next week, and I've been hunting for cardboard boxes I can cover in plain (but handsome) old fashioned brown paper.
Hope you made lots of sales.
