Fairs

Well here we are in November.  How did that happen?!!

I am very busy this month with 3 fairs to attend as well as the website to maintain. The first fair is on Wednesday at the Meeting House in Ilminster. This is a wonderful fair both to sell at and to buy from with some great sellers and top quality textiles.  The venue is lovely too with a great cafe selling delicious food.

I have been busy painting the insides of vintage apple boxes to use as shelving, using Cath Kidston furniture paints.  I love the colours.  Here they are drying out.

Today I did a mock up of my stall. I always like to change it as much as possible to keep things looking fresh and new.  Here is a preview for you.

 

 

 

I have so much stock to take and I am hoping that the tables are just a tad bigger than my desk!

The next fair will be the Vintage and Handmade Fair in Chipping Sodbury on November 14th, which I am beyond excited about, and then I am at the Cowslip Workshops 3 day Christmas fair in Launceston on 20th to 22nd November.  Hope to see some of you at one of these events.  Don't forget to come and say hi.

Remember me telling you about the Sip and Stitch club I go to now?  Well we were all featured in the local paper. My ripple blanket is now famous in North Devon!

Textile Sale

On Saturday I went to a textile sale held at my friend Lizzie's house in the beautiful Somerset countryside. I have been buying from Lizzie for some time now, usually at textile fairs, but this was her own 'end of summer' sale held at her house and in her barn. She had lots and lots of textiles and beautiful vintage costumes, as you can see (this actually isn't all of it). I bought loads including some lovely pieces that she had found especially for me.







After I had spent a small fortune with Lizzie I went to her friend Bronia's house which was a real Aladdin's cave. I was so awestruck by all her lovely bits that I forgot to take photos. She is having another sale in October so I will remember to take the camera out of my bag for that. Her house and emporium are just stuffed full of vintage and retro deliciousness!

I am off to London tomorrow for 3 days of child-free R&R, well retail therapy really but without the kids, hoorah. See you when I get back xxx Pin It

Lovely Day

Had a lovely day yesterday. I went to a textile fair in Ilminster to buy more fabrics. It was a beautiful sunny day, after a rather foggy start. The first person I saw was the lovely Liz who was standing at her stall talking to Niki! What a great start. I bought heaps of beautiful fabrics, hand painted French buttons, trims, quilts and some French embroidered laundry labels. I have put a selection of these below. I managed to resist buying a rather lovely wax head.

I then met up with Sue Niki and Niki's friend Debbie and we all went for coffee in the lovely cafe they have at the Meeting House. We made sure we took some photos to commemorate the blog meet (mine came courtesy of Niki as I had left my camera in the car!) with all of us saying 'Fabric' instead of 'Cheese'.




Niki bought along a beautifully wrapped present for me. Inside was this lovely piece of fabric, which will be going in with my put-away-and-stroke fabrics! It was such a lovely gift, so me, thank you Niki.





After a bit of refreshment we hit the town's charity shops where we all got a few more goodies. I found more fabrics, some vintage children's books and a couple of old dress patterns from Fenwicks. Back to the Meeting House to pick up our goodies, another cup of tea and then goodbyes. It was a really lovely day, meeting lovely ladies, and made even lovelier for me as I got to go alone, without any children, utter bliss! Pin It
