Shed Update

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have been busy. Busy filling up my new 'warehouse' shed full of fabric!

Each shelf is piled up with fabrics, 2 deep, so you can see just how much fabric I have.  The plastic boxes are full of vintage clothes, hats, bags, shoes, aprons, pillowcases and tablecloths as well as fabric scraps.  The laundry bags are full of pairs of curtains.

This is addition to the fabrics I have in my other storage building and the fabrics listed on the website which are stored in the house.  There is still some room on the first few sets of shelves but then there is a lot more to come down from the 'room of doom' as it used to be known!

For those of you who have asked, I do not have a shop nor do I open the warehouse to the public, this is for storage only. My only 'shop' is my website.

I am having a Back to School sale so until 20th September there is 15% off all stock. Just add the code BTS11 in the coupon box on checkout. Pin It

Donna...I don't know how you do it. Family life, kids, Fairs, online business... It's a fantastic stock but it must be very hard work for you.
It looks absolutely delicious. xxx

I can't wait to show your fabric to my husband. He asked me just 2 weeks ago if I might have a hoarding problem with fabric, ah.....no, I just have 2 bookcases and about half a small closet of fabric. Very neatly displayed...I might add. Then I will wait for his apology....bet that won't happen...ha

You have a SERIOUS PROBLEM! Did I read correctly you have TWO SHEDS full? Oh my! Your family jokes about your stash, however there’s truth in every statement following an “I’m only joking.” There’s NO WAY you will EVER utilize all the fabric, plus all the other vintage items stashed in boxes. If you began today using every piece, you would die before it was given new life! What a waste of precious resources. A water leak or rodents? Ruined! Have you counted the costs involved - and it’s often not monetary! How many responsibilities have you laid aside? You have uncontrollable impulsiv behaviors like an addict on drugs, a smoker who’s tried to quit, women who has purchase to buy a pair of shoes, a closet alcoholic! It encompasses every area of your life. Find an excellent therapist, tell your story them show pictures! You’ll be shocked!!

The “Unknown” person above is assuming a lot thinking you bought all of your fabric. I, myself, have three truckloads of just fabric that I put in a storage building that is ventilated. I also purchased four bookshelves to put mini bolts of fabric to store a bunch of my fabric that I have at my house. I have a bedroom full of plastic totes stored in furniture, shelves, and in the closet. My living room is overflowing with container fulls of fabric that will go into the bookshelves. Did I buy all of my fabric? No. A good friend gave me some to start my stash several years ago, and then she became seriously ill and moved her sewing room upstairs along with some of her fabric. I was blessed with 14 or 15 large boxes of fabric. Then the woman who started me sewing when I was four, 59 now, passed away. Hence, all the fabric and notions in storage that I inherited from my loving mother. Have I bought a lot of fabric throughout the years? Yes, and I have scraps from the numerous things that I sewed or quilted. The church recently needed some fabric to make some adult bibs for the local nursing homes, and all I had to do was go gather up a large bag full of fabric and donated it. I bought tons of fabric to make quilts for my four grandkids for Christmas and hopefully, six more for other people. So, don’t judge. You don’t know what this lovely woman has used her fabric for in the past or will use it for in the future. Maybe she is like me, and fabric makes her remember someone close and feels good. Whatever it is, it really isn’t your place to judge unless you are perfect. Are you?

The fabric of my life said...

Thank you Binding Memories. I ignored the quite frankly ignorant, anonymous comment but yes, they have no idea of how my life really is.

I do make a living from my fabric www.donaflowervintage.com. I do sell it. I didn't back then as I was amassing stock whilst my children were small but now, as a single parent, it gives me a living and provides a roof over their head and food on the table. It's so very easy to be a keyboard warrior and pass judgement anonymously from behind a screen. Sad isn't it?
